Consultant Sports and Exercise Medicine Physician.

A graduate of Medicine from U.C.C. in 2010, Dr Jordan completed Basic Specialist Training in General Medicine, followed by specialist training in General Practice in the Cork General Practice Specialist Training Scheme. He undertook a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine at University College Cork, graduating with a First Class Honours in 2018. He then went on to complete the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine Higher Specialist Training programme. He is one of the first two Irish trained Consultants in Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Dr Jordan has himself performed at a high level of sport with Blarney, U.C.C. and Cork inter-county hurling teams. He has extensive experience working as team doctor in both team and individual athlete sports including GAA, rugby, soccer, hockey and athletics. Most recently, he has worked as Team Doctor to the Dublin Senior and U-20 Hurling Teams.

His current research topics include novel injection options for knee osteoarthritis and examining the effects of exercise on concussion assessment tools. He is an active member of the Irish sports medicine community, serving as a member of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine Education Committee who provide regular CPD opportunities pertinent to the speciality, as well as serving as the Faculty’s PCS Manager. Dr Jordan is also passionate about medical teaching and is a lecturer on the MSc programme in Sports and Exercise Medicine in University College Cork.
