Mr Fenton studied medicine at University College Dublin, graduating in 2004. He completed specialist training in neurosurgery in Ireland in 2014 and then undertook a dedicated two year combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine fellowship at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University of Calgary Spine Program is the largest spine unit in Canada and performs the largest volume of minimally invasive spine surgery in Canada.
Mr Fenton was appointed as a consultant spinal neurosurgeon at Blackrock Clinic in 2016 and at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin and UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic two years later.
He cofounded Neurospine (www.neurospine.ie) with Mr Michael Kelleher in 2018. His interests include adult degenerative spine, spinal tumours (primary and metastatic), spinal trauma, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal neuronavigation and spinal reconstruction.
