I was referred by my GP to Professor Devitt with osteoarthritis in my hip January 2023. I always loved to exercise but the pain was  too much.

After consultation it was advised that I needed a full hip replacement on my left hip. I had the surgery in May 2023.

After the surgery, I did everything I was told in terms of physio etc and it has improved quality of life no end.

I returned last May for another consultation and we had discussed if I had done much running. I had done a small bit at that point but again was not pushing it. I asked about doing a marathon, and was given green light to do so but just to manage it if there is any pain.

The only thing he asked was that I send a picture at the finish line.

I just completed the 2024 Dublin city marathon this year, no issues on my hip whatsoever and I did send on that picture to him.
